This Privacy Policy explains how College Prep Path (“College Prep Path,” “we,” “us”) — a service operated by Ashton Dirks, an individual (sole proprietor) — collects, uses, and shares information when you use our SAT and ACT preparation service (the “Service”). We've written it to be clear because much of our audience is students and their families.
Information we collect
Account & profile. Name, email, password (stored securely by our auth provider), role (parent/guardian or student), date of birth, graduation month/year, target test, test date, and score goals.
From and about minors. If a student is under 18, we collect a parent or guardian email so they can approve the account and manage any purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Learning data. Your diagnostic answers and results, lesson and quiz progress, study plan, saved “Dream Schools,” and any official scores you choose to report.
Payment. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles payment data directly.
Usage & device. Basic technical data (e.g., pages visited, device/browser) needed to operate and secure the Service.
How we use information
- To provide the Service — run the diagnostic, build and pace your personalized study plan, and track progress.
- To connect parent and student accounts when both parties consent (“Parent Mode”).
- To process subscriptions, provide support, and send essential service messages.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
- To improve the Service. If you opt in when reporting a score, we may use anonymized, aggregated results to measure and showcase outcomes.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run College Prep Path, and only as needed:
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Anthropic — AI used to generate lesson content and study plans.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- U.S. Dept. of Education College Scorecard — public college data shown in Dream Schools.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information, and we do not sell student data or use it for targeted advertising.
Children & students
College Prep Path is intended for students age 13 and older. Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian who is aware of and approves the account, and an adult must be the account holder for any paid subscription. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it. Parents and guardians may review, export, or request deletion of their student's information by contacting us or, where connected, through Parent Mode.
Your choices & rights
- Access & export. Download a copy of your data from your Account page.
- Correct. Update your profile information at any time.
- Delete. Permanently delete your account and associated data from your Account page.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA or other state privacy laws; contact us to exercise them.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal or financial obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including row-level access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and will notify affected users of a breach as required by law.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, notifying you.
